Artist's Comments

One of the drop pods used by the Second Company to execute daring planetary assaults. The pods can carry ten Marines, five Terminators, or even a Dreadnought. Once the passengers are loaded, the pod is fired out of an orbital vessel at the besieged planet. Because of their speed and size, drop pods are almost impossible targets for ground weapons crews, which makes their use against fortified positions ideal. When the pod hits the ground, the doors drop open and its passengers flood out, weapons blazing. In some cases, a drop pod will contain only weapons, such as missile launchers or assault cannons. This drop pod is a standard five man drop pod. The kit came with five Marines strapped into the walls, but I decided not to use them. This way, it can be legitimately used for Marines, Terminators, or Dreadnoughts. Also, I modified the doors to contain magnets, so they'll stay closed when I close them. Lastly, this vehicle's name - Eternus - is a reflection of how long it took me to paint this thing.

Omg, this is b-e-a---utiful!!! The GamesWorkshop should think about adding droppods to the game, maybe drop them into enemy Chaos Marine territory while the Chaos Marine player is focused on trying to plunge through Space Marine lines =P

With the advent of the fourth edition Marine Codex, drop pods can be taken as transports. They hold ten regular Marines or five Terminators and deploy by deep strike. They're cheap and effective at 30 points apiece. Also, this isn't a scratch built model, it's a Forgeworld resin kit.

If you think about it, they can be launched as artillery too! I'd hate to be the soldier to get crushed by a droppod with a dreadnaught in it!

No, they actually can't. Drop pods can only be deployed from orbit.
